While I was taking my morning walk at about 9am yesterday – Saturday, I saw a bird on my route,It was very dark and looks scary. When I saw the bird, I instantly became scared, and I changed the lane so I could avoid it. I was extremely afraid. Merely looking at the bird, I knew it wouldn’t harm me, but I was terrified.

On way back, I was conscious of the same bird but it already left the spot. Immediately, I had a self reflection and then laughed at myself. I asked myself, “Why were you scared?” Then the Holy Spirit began to talk to me about what had just happened, He wanted me to learn a lesson.

The Holy Spirit taught me another lesson about faith. He made me to understand why most people get stuck in life because of fear. In your journey right now, are you afraid of something? What looks like a mountain on your path?
Fear is just an emotion that can be overwhelming. It’s a false evidence appearing real. Just like what happened to me, I was afraid but it was not real. Fear distracts us from doing what we want to get done, It wastes time.

Just imagine if there was no other route for me, I would have been stuck on a road for few minutes or probably turned back home, and that would been a waste of time/end of my walkout goal. The bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7, that the Lord has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind. So what is that thing that scares you? What is that noise in you and around you that is stopping you from moving forward?

This experience taught me three major principles. As you go through this week and this year, use these principles to guide your life: – Success responds to momentum: People remain stagnant for life because of challenges and what seems like a mountain. Don’t stay stagnant. Move on and keep your momentum. – Don’t avoid your fears, face it. Understand why you are afraid and do what you are afraid of. Don’t try to avoid it. Don’t waste your time. Your time is your life, it is very precious.- Go for it: Move forward and move into your greatness. Don’t turn back because of what you see.

You can do everything through Christ that strengthens you!

Have a blessed week! Oyinlola Babatunde
